Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Stepdown Unit. The ideal candidate will possess a strong commitment to patient care and demonstrate a positive attitude and teamwork.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 22
• Nurse:Patient Ratio: 1:4
• Nurse Aide/Patient Care Tech Ratio: 1:10
• Common Diagnoses: Heart failure, Afib, respiratory distress, stroke
• Common Drips: Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro
• Equipment Utilization: RNs are required to troubleshoot CPAP equipment and read/interpret telemetry strips.

Shifts and Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Shift Hours: 0630-1900, 1830-0700
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirements: 1 major holiday, 1 minor holiday
• Floating Requirements: May float to ICU if appropriate and has experience
• Orientation: 1 shift of unit-specific orientation
• Scheduling: Cyclic scheduling, no self-scheduling available

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of RN experience required
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Candidate must possess a valid driver’s license for submission

Additional Notes

This is a fast-paced unit with frequent admissions and discharges. The successful nurse will demonstrate exceptional patient orientation, teamwork, and a readiness to provide high-quality care.

Compliance Policies

• All nurses must pass an open book exam during orientation, achieving a score of 90% or higher.
• Artificial nails are prohibited; failure to comply will result in termination.
