Registered Nurse – Emergency Department

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong background in emergency nursing and pediatric care.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the Emergency Department.
• Assess and prioritize patient needs in a fast-paced environment.
• Utilize specialized equipment, including Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun.
• Offer care to a diverse patient population including newborns, pediatrics, adults, and geriatric patients.
• Work collaboratively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Participate in the care of patients with common diagnoses such as stroke, sepsis, trauma, myocardial infarction (MI), cardiac arrest, and respiratory failure.
• Fulfill floating responsibilities as required.
• Provide care to all assigned patients, including those requiring Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) services.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department, including pediatric experience.
• Current AHA certifications in ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, and TNCC (TNCC certification must be up to date).
• Active New York State nursing license and verification of all registered nursing licenses through NURSYS.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EPIC.
• Strong ability to perform in a high-pressure environment and demonstrate excellent clinical judgment.
• Charge nurse experience is highly preferred.

Work Schedule

The position requires working from 6:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling cannot be guaranteed.

Unit Information

• Emergency Department with a total of 64 beds.
• Unit includes 2 triage areas, 40 acute care beds, 6 super track beds, 2 trauma beds, 10 clinical decision unit beds, and 6 psychiatric beds.
