PCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced PCU Registered Nurse (RN) for a stepdown unit. This position requires expertise in caring for a variety of patients, including those with congestive heart failure, pneumonia, sepsis, stroke, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary embolism, and acute kidney injury.

Shift and Scheduling

• Shift Type: Night shifts, 12-hour duration
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Weekend Requirement: Every third weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Participation in holiday rotation
• Self-scheduling available

Unit Highlights

• Unit Type: Stepdown
• Number of Beds: 24
• Patient Ratios: 1:4-5, utilizing virtual nursing support
• Nurse Aide Support: 1:8 ratio when unit is full
• Telemetry Monitoring: Yes, with monitor tech supporting the unit

Responsibilities

• Provide care for stroke patients and other critically ill individuals
• Titrate drips including amiodarone, cardizem, heparin, nicardipine, and dobutamine
• Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Certification, NIHSS
• Proficiency in reading telemetry strips
• Teamwork-oriented with excellent communication skills
• Compliance with fingernail policy (artificial nails are prohibited)

Orientation

A comprehensive orientation will be provided, consisting of three shifts on the assigned schedule, ensuring that nurses are well-prepared for their roles.
