Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) for a position in a stepdown unit. This role requires providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, with a specific focus on cardiovascular patients and those requiring intermediate care.

Shift Information

• Shift Type: Nights
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 48 hours per week
• Weekend Requirements: Every other weekend

Unit Details

• Unit: CVU 5E
• Number of Beds: 18
• Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4; 1:3 for post-surgical patients in the first 24 hours
• Common Diagnoses: Patients include those transitioning from CVICU, thoracic program patients, and cases involving cardiac and vascular conditions.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in accordance with established protocols and standards
• Titrate medications related to blood pressure management, including Amiodarone, Nitro, and others
• Monitor patient status and report any changes to the healthcare team
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including hospitalists and intensivists available 24/7
• Ensure compliance with safety and hygiene regulations, including fingernail policies

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse
• Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
• Experience managing specific titratable drips
• Ability to interpret telemetry and monitor cardiac rhythms
• Willingness to float to other units of the same or lower acuity when needed

Orientation and Training

New hires will undergo tailored orientation consisting of 1-2 shifts specific to the unit, adjusted based on experience and individual needs.

Dress Code

Staff are required to wear navy blue scrubs.
