IMCU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced IMCU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in intermediate care and critical care nursing with a minimum of 2 years of experience in IMCU/PCU settings. This position is essential for delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Information

Unit: IMCU

Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM (Block scheduling is not guaranteed)

Floating Requirement: Yes

Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Patient Population

The unit serves a diverse patient demographic, including adults aged 18 years and older. Common diagnoses managed include:

• Neurological conditions
• Cardiac issues
• Trauma
• Respiratory conditions (e.g., COPD)
• Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
• Sepsis
• Myocardial Infarction (MI)
• CV stepdown
• Post-operative care

Equipment Used

The unit is equipped with specialty equipment to manage complex patient needs, including:

• Temporary pacemakers
• Chest tubes
• Arterial lines
• Bipap machines
• Neptune Vapo

Additional Information

The IMCU consists of 64 beds, with 15 designated for neuro patients. Registered Nurses in this unit will work closely with respiratory therapists in the management of chronic ventilator patients who are unable to be weaned.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess the following qualifications:

• Valid NY RN License and verification through NURSYS
• AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications
• Experience with electronic medical records, specifically EPIC
