Medical Surgical / Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a qualified Medical Surgical / Orthopedic Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. The RN will provide comprehensive care for patients undergoing various orthopedic surgeries, including total knee, hip, ankle, shoulder replacements, and management of spine conditions.

Unit Information

• Unit Type: Medical Surgical
• Average Daily Census: 6 patients
• Number of Beds: 22
• Nurse to Patient Ratio: 1:5-6

Responsibilities

• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Conduct patient assessments and monitor vital signs.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality care.
• Educate patients and families on post-operative care and recovery.
• Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with facility protocols.
• Participate in orientation and training, including passing a skills exam during orientation.

Qualifications

• Required Certification: BLS Certification
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to be flexible and take ownership of patient care responsibilities.
• Willingness to learn and assist team members.

Scheduling and Additional Information

• Shifts: Night shifts from 6:30 PM to 6:30 AM.
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend.
• Floating Requirements: May float to Med-Surg, rehab, or PCU taking Med-Surg acuity.
• Orientation: One day of unit-specific orientation.
• Team Dynamics: Charge nurse available on each shift; nurse aids/patient care techs present on the unit with a ratio of 1:13.
