Registered Nurse – Step Down (RN)

Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Registered Nurse to join our Step Down unit. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality care to patients transitioning from intensive care, focusing on a variety of complex medical conditions.

Unit Information

The Step Down unit consists of 16-20 beds with a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4. The unit specializes in the management of conditions including, but not limited to:

  • Sepsis
  • Heart Failure
  • Hypertensive Emergency
  • Respiratory Failure
  • COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease)
  • Chronic Kidney Disease
  • Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus
  • Substance Abuse
  • Status Epilepticus
  • Encephalopathy

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assess patient conditions, documenting changes and communicating with the healthcare team.
  • Administer medications and provide treatments as prescribed.
  • Ensure patient safety and comfort while educating patients and families on care plans.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
  • Participate in unit performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant nursing experience.
  • Certification in Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) and Basic Life Support (BLS).
  • Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to work in high-stress situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Location

Position based in a Step Down unit located in a community-focused environment in City, State.
