Registered Nurse – Intermediate Care (Nursing)

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse for our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in managing patients with complex medical needs, including those recovering from surgery or dealing with chronic health issues.

Unit Information

• Unit: IMCU
• Common Diagnoses: Neuro, Cardiac, Trauma, Respiratory conditions (e.g., COPD, DKA, Sepsis, MI), CV stepdown, postoperative care.
• Specialty Equipment: Temporary pacemakers, Chest tubes, Arterial lines, BiPAP, Neptune Vapo.
• Ventilator Support: Chronic ventilators with the support of Respiratory Therapy.
• Patient Demographics: Adults aged 18 and older.
• Number of Beds: 64 beds total, with 15 designated for neuro patients.

Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment. Key duties include:

• Monitoring and assessing patient conditions.
• Administering medications and treatments as ordered.
• Collaborating with the healthcare team to manage patient care effectively.
• Floating to other units as required.
• Maintaining accurate patient records utilizing EMR systems.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in Intermediate Care/Progressive Care Unit (IMCU/PCU).
• Current AHA BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications.
• Active New York nursing license and verification of all RN licenses.
• Experience with EMR systems, specifically EPIC.

Work Schedule

This position requires availability for evening shifts from 6:30 PM to 7:00 AM. Block scheduling cannot be guaranteed. Flexibility to float to other units may be necessary based on patient care needs.
