Registered Nurse – Nursery

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Nursery unit, which includes care for neonates in a special care environment. This position is ideal for individuals with a strong nursing background, particularly in neonatal care.

Shift Details

Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM

Start Date: ASAP

Experience Requirements

• 3-4 years of nursing experience
• At least 2 years in Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) or Special Care Nursery (SCN)
• Postpartum experience is preferred but not required
• Previous NICU or Level 2 SCN experience is required

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with Cerner electronic health records is preferred but not required

Role Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care for neonates in the special care nursery
• Assist in deliveries and starting intravenous (IV) lines for neonates
• Attend vaginal and cesarean deliveries as needed
• Administer surfactant via LMA to appropriate candidates
• Ensure the safety and well-being of patients during their stay in the nursery

Unit Information

Our special care nursery is integrated with the labor and delivery unit, equipped with 18 labor, delivery, recovery, and postpartum (LDRP) beds. The nursery accommodates infants from 32 weeks and above, with an average census of 2-5 neonates at any given time. The nursing staff consists of 8-9 registered nurses per shift, including 2 nurses trained for special care nursery operations.

Floating Requirements

The nurse may be floated to postpartum or pediatrics if necessary, though this is not likely for travelers. However, should the traveler be comfortable, there may be opportunities to assist in those areas.
