Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position requires a minimum of two years of nursing experience, including at least six months of recent level 1 trauma experience or experience in a larger facility (400+ beds) with a high volume of surgeries and high acuity patients. Proficiency in EPIC charting is essential as there will be no training provided during orientation.

Responsibilities

• Manage a patient load of 1:5 to 1:6, adjusting for higher acuity patients as necessary.
• Titrate heparin drips and monitor patients across multiple units with tele capabilities.
• Collaborate with nurse managers and charge nurses to ensure high-quality patient care.
• Participate in unit-specific orientation and complete additional shifts with a preceptor.
• Float between all Med/Surg units as required within skill set.
• Fulfill weekend and holiday requirements as part of the team.

Unit Details

The Med/Surg units consist of the following bed capacities:

• 2 West: 13 beds
• 6 West: 14 beds
• 7 South: 12 beds
• 4 Wiser: 30 beds
• 5 Wiser: 25 beds

Patient Population

Common patient diagnoses include:

• General Med-Surg
• Congestive heart failure
• Diabetes
• Post-surgical care
• Trauma
• Acute kidney injury
• Sickle cell anemia
• Gastroparesis
• Respiratory illnesses

Requirements

• FLU vaccination required; medical accommodations accepted with an MD note.
• FBI fingerprinting required, with options for in-person or remote processing.
• Every two weeks or two weekends per month is the standard requirement, with potential adjustments based on department needs.
• Available equipment includes CPAP, BiPap, high flow devices, and ventilators.
• Required certifications include BLS; charge nurses must have ACLS certification.
