Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team in a general medical inpatient unit. This position requires a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

Unit Overview

The unit is a 32-bed facility that cares for general medical patients with a broad range of diagnoses, which may include respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, musculoskeletal issues, dialysis (hemo and peritoneal), sepsis, and other various infections. Staffing ratios are typically 1:6.

Responsibilities

  • Provide compassionate and comprehensive patient care to medical surgical patients.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes.
  • Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition.
  • Utilize Epic for charting and documentation.
  • Participate in patient education and discharge planning.

Contract Details

  • Length of Contract: 26 weeks preferred; longer contracts preferred (26-51 weeks).
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts, with 36 hours guaranteed per week.
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
  • Holiday Rotation: Request for one holiday off is permitted, with additional options available during the year.
  • Floating: May be required to float to other medical surgical inpatient floors.

Qualifications

  • Education: ADN or BSN required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care medical/surgical experience.
  • Licensure: Valid KS or Multistate RN license. No history of disciplinary actions.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS certification required at the time of submission.

Immunization Requirements

Documentation of immunity status for Hep B, MMR, and Varicella is required either through titers or proof of vaccination series completion. TDaP and Influenza vaccination documentation or exemption requests during flu season are also required. TB documentation is necessary.
