Registered Nurse/Medical Surgical

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse to join our Medical Surgical unit, focusing on delivering high-quality patient care in a 32-bed general medical inpatient environment. The unit handles a diverse range of patient diagnoses, including respiratory, gastrointestinal, neurological, musculoskeletal, sepsis, and other infections.

Contract Details

  • Contract Length: Preferred 26 to 51 weeks, with shorter contracts considered on a case-by-case basis.
  • Shift: 12-hour shifts, 36 hours guaranteed per week.
  • Weekend Rotation: Every other weekend.
  • Holiday RTO Policy: One holiday off may be requested. Two federal holidays and two non-essential holidays are observed per year.

Orientation Dates

Orientation sessions occur bi-weekly, and candidates should be flexible with start dates. Available orientation dates are:

  • 10/05/2026
  • 10/19/2026
  • 11/02/2026
  • 11/16/2026
  • 11/30/2026

Float Requirements

The RN may be required to float to other post-surgical and medical-surgical inpatient floors as needed.

Qualifications

  • Education: ADN or BSN required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 1 year of acute care medical/surgical experience is required.
  • Certifications: AHA BLS certification is required at the time of submission.
  • Licensure: Must possess a Kansas or multistate nursing license.
  • Charting System: Familiarity with Epic is preferred (testing option available).

Additional Information

Staffing Ratios: 1:6 nurse-to-patient ratio.

Uniform: Scrub color is navy.

Tattoos: Visible tattoos are permitted, provided they are non-offensive and maintain a professional appearance. Piercings must not interfere with job duties.

Vaccination Requirements

Immunity status for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella must be documented either through titers or proof of vaccination series completion. Documentation for TDaP and influenza vaccinations is required, along with TB documentation.
