Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Summary

A professional caregiver who plans, provides, and directs patient care and education, utilizing the nursing process in accordance with patient care standards and physician orders. The Registered Nurse acts as a liaison between physicians, patients, and families, collaborating with other healthcare members. This role includes assisting in the orientation of new personnel and participating in health center and department committees. The staff nurse must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide age-appropriate care for various populations based on chronological age, developmental age, and psycho-social maturity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive physical and psychosocial assessments of patients according to established standards, including safety and educational needs.
  • Participate in establishing a collaborative plan of care based on assessment data, in coordination with all involved disciplines, and communicate this plan appropriately.
  • Implement and evaluate the plan of care based on identified patient goals and intended outcomes, modifying as necessary based on reassessment of the patient’s status.
  • Complete all documentation according to established standards and use established documentation tools effectively.
  • Assess the readiness of patients and significant others to learn, implementing individualized education plans as needed.
  • Actively participate in nursing department or unit-based initiatives, including providing in-service opportunities or volunteering to serve as project points for committees and task forces.
  • Provide age-appropriate care consistent with the specific population served as defined by the organization.
  • Ensure all functions are performed according to established policies, procedures, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards.
  • Deliver excellent service experiences by consistently demonstrating standards of performance every day.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing; current licensure by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in Obstetrics, Postpartum, and/or Labor & Delivery.
  • Current licensure, certification, or registry required:
    • BLS (Basic Life Support)
    • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
    • STABLE (Sugar, Temperature, Airway, Blood Pressure, Lab Work, Emotional Support)
