ICU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

The ICU Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for assessing, implementing, and evaluating care needed by assigned patients under the direction of the licensed physician. This role requires comprehensive knowledge of nursing principles, theories, methods, and techniques, allowing for effective collaboration with patients, their families, and other health care professionals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized patient care utilizing the nursing process.
  • Direct nursing support staff in the delivery of patient care according to nursing standards and departmental policies.
  • Assess patient needs and develop appropriate care plans.
  • Implement prescribed interventions and evaluate patient responses to care.
  • Float to various ICU settings, step-down units, IMCU, and emergency departments as needed, while primarily being assigned to the ICU.
  • Participate in orientation as required for floating to Women’s and Family units when necessary.
  • Maintain patient ratios not exceeding 1:3 while assigned to any unit or hospital.
  • Be available for potential mid-shift reassignments to other units or hospitals.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing (Required)
  • Bachelor’s Degree in nursing (Preferred)
  • A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, including at least 1 year in an ICU setting (No new graduates)
  • Valid Registered Nurse License in Pennsylvania (Required)
  • BLS – Basic Life Support Certification (Required)
  • ACLS Certification (Required)
  • NIHSS Certification (Required)
  • TNCC Certification (Preferred)

Work Expectations

  • Remote work: Maximum of 5 consecutive days; if 5 consecutive days are taken, a week may be added to the end of any contract.
  • Holidays: Travelers are not required to work on holidays but must be available on adjacent days during the holiday period for staffing needs, depending on contract duration.
