Critical Care Float Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated Critical Care Float Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Float Pool. This position requires flexibility to work in multiple units within the hospital, including the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and Intermediate Care Unit. The ideal candidate will have strong critical care experience and be prepared to take on various assignments as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Float to different units as required, including but not limited to the Emergency Department, ICU, IMCU, and Medical/Surgical units.
  • Manage patient assignments that may include 6-7 patients.
  • Monitor and assess patients in the Critical Care Float Pool.
  • Utilize specialty equipment including Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP), Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT), and Ventriculostomy.
  • Provide care for patients with diagnoses such as strokes, sepsis, respiratory failure, congestive heart failure, and post-surgical interventions.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in an ICU setting.
  • Active New York RN license required at the time of application.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certifications required.
  • Nursys Report and verification of all active RN licenses.

Work Environment

The Critical Care Float Pool consists of 42 beds, providing care to a diverse patient population with complex medical needs. The position involves day and night shifts, and while block scheduling is not guaranteed, flexibility and adaptability are essential.

Additional Information

Scrub color for this position will be navy blue. The Float position is designed to ensure patient care continuity across various departments while utilizing your critical thinking and clinical skills effectively.
