Registered Nurse – Emergency Department (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Department team. The ideal candidate will have robust experience in a fast-paced ED environment and possess the necessary certifications and skills to provide high-quality care to a diverse patient population.

Unit Overview

• Unit: Emergency Department
• Number of Beds: 64 beds, including 2 Triage, 40 acute, 6 super track, 2 Trauma, 10 CDU, and 6 psych beds.
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Stroke, Sepsis, Trauma, Myocardial Infarction, Cardiac Arrest, Respiratory Failure.
• Patient Demographics: Newborns, Pediatrics, Adults, Geriatrics.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to assigned patients in a busy Emergency Department.
• Administer medications, including but not limited to pressors (e.g., Levophed, Epi), vasodilators (e.g., NTG, Cleviprex), and anti-arrhythmics (e.g., Amiodarone).
• Utilize specialty equipment such as the Rapid Infusor and Arctic Sun for patient care.
• Participate in the care of patients in various settings, including SANE cases.
• Collaborate effectively with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Float to other units as required based on patient care needs.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in the Emergency Department or similar high-acuity setting.
• Current and valid Registered Nurse license in New York.
• Certificates: AHA ACLS, BLS, PALS, NIHSS, TNCC.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records system, specifically EPIC.
• Ability to demonstrate knowledge of required drips and medications including sedation options (e.g., Precedex, Propofol).
• Valid driver’s license with an address matching provided demographics.
• Skills checklist relevant to specialty must be completed.

Work Schedule

This position involves a shift from 10:30 AM to 11:00 PM. Please note that block scheduling is not guaranteed.
