Director of Surgical Services
Job Summary
The Director of Surgical Services is responsible for the oversight and management of the surgical department’s day-to-day operations. This role entails overseeing all areas within surgical services, including pre-operative, post-anesthesia care unit (PACU), operating room, central processing department, and orthopedic and general surgery outreach clinics. The Director ensures that departmental resources are managed effectively and in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values, while also adhering to relevant regulatory standards and accreditation requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily operations within the surgical services department.
- Manage departmental staff and resources to optimize performance and quality of care.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accrediting agency standards.
- Collaborate with medical staff and administration to enhance service delivery.
- Implement policies and procedures that promote efficient surgical services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing or a related field.
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
- Valid RN license in the state of Minnesota.
- Minimum of three years of experience working in a surgery department.
- Preferred qualifications include CNOR certification and a Master’s degree in nursing or a related field.
- At least three years of previous management experience is preferred.
Charting System
The surgical services department utilizes the Epic charting system for patient documentation and management.
Work Schedule
This position offers a Monday to Friday schedule with 8-hour workdays, guaranteeing a total of 40 hours per week.
