CT/X-RAY Technologist

Shift Information: Nights

Position Purpose

The Radiologic Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. This role includes providing patient education, quality patient care, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements.

Essential Functions and Basic Duties

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of imaging procedures in at least two of the following modalities: CT, MRI, Mammography, or others.
  • Practice radiation safety and adhere to ALARA standards.
  • Inquire about pregnancy status of female patients and ensure protective measures are taken against harmful radiation.
  • Perform quality control in accordance with manufacturers’ recommendations.
  • Operate imaging equipment following manufacturers’ guidelines.
  • Conduct exams as per Imaging Department Protocols or consult with the Radiologist to establish protocols for the exam.
  • Assist with clerical duties and patient transportation, as needed.
  • Answer telephone calls, direct communications, and accurately record messages.
  • Assist, train, or cross-train imaging staff as directed.
  • Complete equipment downtime forms and promptly notify the manager of any equipment issues.
  • Exhibit flexibility by rearranging work schedules to accommodate emergencies, illnesses, and vacations.
  • Work independently with minimum supervision while being self-motivated.
  • Notify the Radiologist of all STAT or emergent cases, providing the ordering physician’s contact information.
  • Obtain informed consents when required, and perform/document relevant medical history related to the patient and procedure.
  • Maintain a positive and supportive team attitude towards all staff members.
  • Order, stock, and maintain supply inventory as necessary.
  • Submit all required documentation to Health Information Management and the Radiologist.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues and coordinate with service engineers for outside maintenance needs.
  • Verify exam orders, confirm patient identity via two means of identification, and provide educational information regarding the exam.
  • Ensure all relevant paperwork is completed and prior studies are accessible before submitting procedures for interpretation.
  • Work overtime as directed and participate in after-hours on-call duties when required.
  • May be required to obtain additional training or certification to meet departmental needs.
  • Rotate to other modalities as necessary, staying within the scope of held licensure and/or registry.

  • Follow infection control, safety, and risk management protocols to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum age of 16 years (21 years for driving positions).
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • Must pass a background check and drug screening as applicable.
  • Completion of an employee health meeting is required.

Required Education/Licensure/Certification:

  • ARRT registration in Radiology (R), Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MR), Mammography (M), Nuclear Medicine Technology (N), or equivalent registries is required within one year of hiring.
  • Current BLS certification must be obtained within 90 days of hire.
