Position Purpose

The Mammography Technologist is responsible for the quality and efficient completion of radiologic procedures for diagnostic interpretation. This role involves providing patient education, delivering quality patient care, and ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.

Essential Functions and Duties

Position-Specific Responsibilities:

• Oversee the daily operation of the women’s health section of radiology.
• Recommend changes in procedures, policies, and quality improvement initiatives while coordinating training and development in breast imaging specialties.
• Adhere to all FDA guidelines regarding the mammography section.
• Maintain appropriate records for all accreditation processes and inspections.
• Manage structured reporting systems for accurate auditing, statistical tracking, and resolution of workflow issues.
• Ensure the completion of daily quality assurance and preventative maintenance tasks.
• Demonstrate advanced knowledge of mammography imaging procedures.
• Perform all exams according to Imaging Department Protocols or as directed by the Radiologist.
• Practice radiation safety by following ALARA standards.
• Operate equipment according to manufacturer recommendations and troubleshoot any issues, contacting service engineers as necessary.
• Verify exam orders, confirm patient identity through two means, and provide appropriate exam education.
• Review and document patient medical histories, obtain required consenting, and ensure all paperwork and prior studies are complete before submitting for Radiologist interpretation.
• Maintain accurate patient records in the electronic health record system (EHR), including procedure and supply charges.
• Assist in other modalities as needed and participate in covering shifts, including call, overtime, or holidays.
• Complete any required additional training or certification.
• Support clerical duties, patient reception, and transportation as necessary.
• Assist in training or cross-training other imaging staff members as directed.
• Demonstrate self-motivation, independence in judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Manage inventory for ordering, stocking, and maintaining supplies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including adherence to departmental, state, and federal standards and policies.
• Follow all infection control, safety, and risk management procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old (21 for positions requiring driving, with a valid driver’s license).
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of a background check.
• Pass a pre-employment drug screen and breath alcohol test (if applicable).
• Complete an Employee Health meeting prior to starting employment.

Education, Licensure, and Certifications

• Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technologist program.
• ARRT registration in Radiology (R) and Mammography (M).
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (or must obtain
