Medical Laboratory Scientist

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Medical Laboratory Scientist to join our dynamic team. This position involves working in a fast-paced environment and performing various laboratory duties, including point-of-care testing and clerical tasks as assigned by nursing and laboratory management.

Job Details

  • Location: Taylorsville, UT
  • Schedule: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (Saturday), 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (Sunday) with rotating hours
  • Assignment Length: 13 weeks (option to extend to 26 weeks)

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily maintenance, quality control, and calibrations on analyzers and conduct patient testing, including waived and non-waived tests.
  • Process specimens, including ordering tests, centrifuging samples, and preparing send-outs for transportation.
  • Maintain lab supplies, conduct routine cleaning of lab surfaces, and perform clerical duties as needed.
  • Collaborate professionally with both laboratory staff and non-laboratory clinical staff.

Qualifications

  • Required:
    • MLS certification through ASCP or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a hospital laboratory environment as an MLT or MLS.
  • Preferred:
    • Experience with the EPIC electronic medical record (EMR) system.
    • Familiarity with the analyzers listed above.

The ideal candidate is someone who can communicate effectively and professionally with both laboratory and clinical staff and is comfortable working independently while interfacing with the emergency department clinical team.

Dress Code

Standard attire includes scrub colors specified as pewter, with lab coats provided by the organization.

Adherence to standard lab safety protocols as required by regulatory bodies is mandatory.
