Clinical Laboratory Scientist

Position Overview

This position requires a skilled Clinical Laboratory Scientist who will work primarily during the evening shift, starting at 1 PM and potentially concluding at 10 PM. The role is focused on performing various functions within the clinical laboratory, ensuring high-quality test results and laboratory service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough analysis using laboratory equipment and technology.
  • Process and analyze clinical specimens according to standard operating procedures.
  • Organize and maintain accurate records and reports for laboratory tests and results.
  • Communicate effectively with co-workers and other healthcare professionals to ensure proper workflow.
  • Handle various laboratory tasks independently, managing time efficiently to meet deadlines.
  • Adhere to all safety and confidentiality regulations, including HIPAA guidelines.
  • Assist in training co-workers and taking on additional responsibilities as requested.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or a related science field is required.
  • Minimum of two years of experience in all aspects of a clinical laboratory.
  • Experience with EPIC is required; Wellsky experience is highly preferred.

Licensure and Certifications

  • Must be currently licensed as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist by the State of California.

Qualifications

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations professionally.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and diligently with minimal supervision.

Physical Requirements

Candidates should be prepared for the physical demands of the job, which may include:

  • Frequent bending, squatting, kneeling, climbing, reaching, sitting, walking, and standing.
  • Visual acuity to perform tasks and adjust focus as needed.
  • Occasional lifting of boxes or supplies weighing up to 25 pounds.

The work environment may expose employees to blood and body fluids, requiring adherence to safety protocols and protective measures during tasks associated with such exposure.
