First Assist Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – Cardiovascular Operating Room

Position Overview

This position is for a First Assist Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) specializing in the Cardiovascular Operating Room. The role includes providing comprehensive surgical assistance in cardiac and vascular procedures, with a focus on endoscopic vein harvesting. The shift system will be based on a 4 x 10-hour workweek, with required rotation on weekends.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team during open-heart and vascular procedures.
• Perform endoscopic vein harvesting as part of the surgical process.
• Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to all safety protocols.
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and nursing staff to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a First Assist in the Cardiovascular field, specifically in open-heart procedures.
• Proficient in endoscopic vein harvesting.
• Experience in Pediatric Cardiovascular Operating Room and cardiac surgical procedures.
• Required certifications: CST First Assist and RN First Assist.

Unit Information

• Operating Room with 23 surgical suites, including 4 dedicated to cardiovascular procedures.
• Team of over 125 staff members.
• Common procedures include CABG, AVR, MVR, and vascular surgeries such as AAA and AV Fistula.
