Job Description:

Provides care to medically complex patients in collaboration with the physician in a specialized acute care setting. Works within scope and experience and works autonomously and has authority, responsibility, and accountability for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of wound, ostomy, and continence care program throughout the inpatient care areas. Serves as a resource for wound care management, including identification, assessment, treatment, and prevention. Provides specialized consultation on wound, ostomy, and continence issues for patients, families, nursing, and medical staff. Serves as a consultant in the management of patients with draining wounds, fistula, and tubes. Serves as a consultant for the treatment of patients with altered skin integrity due to pressure necrosis, drainage, or incontinence. Works with physicians and nursing staff to provide updated information regarding wound care. Conducts rounds on all patients with wound/pressure ulcers and pressure injuries on an as-needed basis.
