Shift Details

This position involves 12-hour night shifts, with every other weekend required. Candidates will also float between multiple locations within the region.

Responsibilities

The RN will work in a Telemetry unit that encompasses 35 beds and is part of a monitor pod. Responsibilities include:

• Monitoring cardiac and telemetry patients, including those with CHF, post-operative CABG, dysrhythmias, and EP cases.
• Reading and interpreting cardiac strips independently.
• Treating patients as needed, ensuring adherence to protocols for various medications and drips.
• Collaborating with team members and participating in unit-based orientation and ongoing training.

Qualifications

• Must have a successful track record of passing the Basic Dysrhythmia exam (minimum score 83%). Candidates will have three attempts to pass, with possible remediation available.
• At least 2 years of telemetry nursing experience is preferred; 1 year may be acceptable for confident candidates.
• Experience in Neuro and Cardiac care is ideal but not mandatory.

Work Environment

Staff will work alongside Tele/Monitor Technicians and will have access to charge nurses and resources as needed. There are structured protocols for medication administration and collaboration is encouraged among all unit staff.

Orientation & Training

New hires will undergo a comprehensive orientation covering system access, unit tours, and hands-on training with experienced nurses on the floor.

• The unit is recognized for its capabilities in heart attack and stroke intervention.
• Strong emphasis on communication and support for travelers.
• Floating between different monitor units is part of the job responsibilities.
