Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team. This position involves providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced telemetry unit. The ideal candidate will be committed to evidence-based practices and patient safety.

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Telemetry
  • Number of Beds: 32 (All private)
  • Nurse to Patient Ratios: 1:4 for telemetry patients; 1:5 for Med-Surg patients. Mixed teams maintain a 1:4 ratio.
  • Common Diagnoses: Acute/Chronic Medical Conditions, Cardiac Telemetry, Stroke patients, COVID patients, and potential post-operative cases.

Shift Information

  • Shift Length: 12 hours
  • Shift Type: Nights
  • Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
  • Weekend Requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule (Nights: Fri/Sat; Days: Sat/Sun)
  • Holiday Requirements: Minimum of 1 major and 1 minor holiday

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role
  • Required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS
  • Cerner experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive care and monitoring for patients with cardiac telemetry needs.
  • Read and interpret cardiac rhythms using GE Monitors.
  • Participate in huddles each shift at 0700 and 1900.
  • Engage in bedside shift reports and intentional hourly rounding.
  • Conduct medication teaching, including side effects and patient education.

The unit is characterized by a warm and welcoming staff environment. Nurses will be expected to adhere strictly to protocols that uphold patient safety and provide high-quality care.

Additional Information

  • Equipment: CPAP or BiPAP (per RT & MD order), no vents.
  • Nurse Aides: CNAs will be provided based on census.
  • Floating Requirements: Travelers will float first to other telemetry and Med-Surg units when necessary. Potential floating to ICU for MST patients and ER for MST holds.
  • Dress Code: Navy blue scrubs required; any undershirts or jackets must also be navy, white, or black. Hoodies and sweatshirts are not permitted.
