Telemetry Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Telemetry Registered Nurse to join our float pool. This position involves working primarily on the telemetry units and may require floating between various locations within the region.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to patients with a focus on telemetry monitoring.
• Monitor patient vital signs and maintain telemetry equipment.
• Administer medications and manage intravenous drips as necessary.
• Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Perform critical interventions for patients in respiratory distress and other high-acuity situations.
• Educate patients and families on health management and medication usage.

Shift and Scheduling:

• Night shifts: 7pm to 7am.
• Weekend requirements: 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week schedule.
• Holidays: One major and one minor holiday per year.
• Scheduling will not guarantee block scheduling.

Unit Information:

Telemetry Unit:

• Bed Capacity: 31 beds
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios: 1:4
• Common Diagnoses: High acuity patients including pneumonia, end-stage renal disease, post-cath lab patients, respiratory distress, CHF, and COPD.

Required Qualifications:

• Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a telemetry or critical care setting.
• Current certifications: ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS.
• Experience with intravenous drips, including amiodarone and cardizem.
• Ability to read telemetry strips and manage bipap or cpap if needed.
• Preferred experience with chest tubes.

• Charge Nurse support available on each shift.
• Resource teams available for additional support.
• Limited resources; expect a demanding workload.

• Orientation will include one shift on the home unit and one on each float unit.
