Telemetry Nurse

Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled Telemetry Nurse to join our team in a dynamic healthcare setting. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to read and interpret all cardiac rhythms and provide high-quality patient care in a telemetry unit.

Unit Details

• Unit: 4W Telemetry
• Bed Capacity: 31 beds (11 private & 10 semi-private)
• Patient Ratios: 1 nurse to 4 patients
• Electronic Medical Records: Cerner
• Nurse Aides: 2 on days & 1 on nights
• Weekend Requirement: 4 shifts within a 4-week schedule, with weekend shifts on Fri/Sat for nights
• Holidays: Expected to contribute to the holiday rotation (1 major holiday & 1 minor holiday)

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to patients in the telemetry unit.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms and respond to changes in patients’ conditions.
• Collaborate with healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
• Conduct assessments and implement nursing interventions as necessary.
• Educate patients and their families about health management and promote adherence to treatment plans.

Qualifications

• Years of Experience: Minimum 2 years in a telemetry setting required
• Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
• Ability to float: Willing to float to MedSurg and ICU if needed

Work Environment

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Orientation: 1-2 shifts with a preceptor
• Common Patient Diagnoses: Post pace maker, hemodialysis, new onset AFib or RVR, stepdown from ICU, post-surgical care, strokes, TBI, oncology patients with cardiac issues, and other high-acuity patients.

• Call requirements: Must report within 30 minutes if placed on standby/call
