Registered Nurse – Medical / Surgical

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse for our Medical/Surgical unit specializing in stroke stepdown care. As part of the nursing team, you will provide comprehensive care to patients with a range of conditions, including stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, and pulmonary diseases.

Unit Information

Unit: Medical/Surgical Stroke Stepdown

Patient Demographics: Adults

• Number of Beds in the Unit: 64
• Common Diagnoses: Stroke, altered mental status, renal issues, COPD, CHF, isolation, general med-surg cases, pneumonia, and other pulmonary issues.
• Specialty Equipment: IV pumps, N/G tubes, feeding tubes

Shift Information

Shift: 6:30 PM – 7:00 AM

Floating Required: Yes

Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in Medical/Surgical nursing with stroke stepdown experience
• Current AHA BLS Certification
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) Certification (can be obtained prior to start)
• Active NY RN License and all active RN licenses
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR), specifically EPIC
