General Information

• Number of Beds: 40
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 4 Patient Care Technicians, 1 Unit Secretary
  • Night Shift: 1 Charge Nurse, 10 Bedside Nurses, 3 Patient Care Technicians
• Patient Ratios: 1:4; stretch staffing at 1:5 ratio
• Types of Patients:
  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • Myocardial Infarction (MI)
  • Chest Pain (CP)
  • Arrhythmia
  • Pulmonary Hypertension
  • Valvular Disease
  • Endocarditis
  • Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • Post Cardiac Catheterization/Stenting
  • Post Pacemaker/ICD/Ablation
• Equipment: Zoll, Baxter pump, lift equipment, bladder scanner
• Electronic Medical Record: Cerner

Typical Candidate Qualifications

• Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Stepdown or Progressive Care and Telemetry.
• Required Skills:
  • Experience with titratable or cardiac IV medications such as nitroglycerin, Cardizem, amiodarone, dopamine, dobutamine, insulin drip, heparin, bumex/Lasix.
• Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with prostacyclins (Flolan, Veletri, Remodulin).
  • Previous relief charge experience.
• Certifications:
  • Basic Life Support (BLS)
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
