Mental Health Technician

Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Mental Health Technicians to join our team. The role involves providing essential support and care for adult patients with behavioral health concerns. The technicians will engage in various tasks to ensure the safety and well-being of patients while assisting with daily activities and maintaining a therapeutic environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor patient behavior and safety, providing constant observation as needed.
  • Assist nursing staff with patient care tasks and daily living activities.
  • Enter and maintain accurate patient data in the electronic medical record system (EPIC).
  • Participate in rounds and support the treatment team with updates and observations.
  • Maintain a clean and organized environment, including kitchen duties.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of inpatient mental health or medical hospitalization experience.
  • Current certifications: CNA or NAR, and Washington state license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and First Aid certifications.
  • De-escalation training through CPI or MOAB.
  • Food Handlers Permit obtained prior to start date.

Required Skills

  • Behavioral health experience and knowledge of patient care protocols.
  • Ability to effectively chart and document patient interactions and observations.

Patient Population

The position primarily involves working with adult patients (18 years and above) who may be involuntary admissions.

Work Schedule

Technicians will work a flexible schedule, with various assignments on the 2nd and 3rd floors across multiple shifts.

Support and Supervision

The team will include hospitalists on call and supervisory staff to ensure patient safety and support staff during shifts. A receptionist will also be available for administrative support.

Facility Highlights

  • 70 combined beds across two units.
  • Nurse-to-patient ratio of approximately 1:11-12 during the day and evening, and 1:17 at night.
  • Patient-to-tech ratio of approximately 1:5 during the day and evening, and 1:7 at night.

Scrubs may be of any color except tan, or business professional attire is acceptable.
