Registered Nurse (RN) – Senior Psychiatric

General Information

This position offers a chance to work in a dynamic psychiatric care setting. The expected start date is December 14. A minimum of 48 hours per week is preferred.

Unit Specifics

  • Number of Beds:
    • Adolescent Unit: 18
    • Serenity Unit: 24
    • Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU): 32
    • Senior Residential and Diversion (SRAD): 16
    • VINE Unit: 9
  • Patient Ratios: Nurses 8:1, Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) 12:1
  • Unit Staffing Description:
    • Adolescent Unit serves patients aged 12-18
    • Serenity is a lower acuity adult unit
    • Intensive Treatment Unit (ITU) manages higher acuity adult patients
    • SRAD focuses on patients in a senior lifestyle
    • VINE is a lower acuity adult unit
  • Documentation System: Meditech
  • Scheduling Requirements: Coverage needed for three 12-hour shifts daily, seven days a week, including weekends. Days off are not guaranteed unless specified in the contract.
  • Floating Policy: Utilized based on the greatest need within the facility.

Qualifications

  • Requested Skill Set:
    • Assessing patients’ mental health status, including recognizing psychiatric disorders and behavioral problems.
    • Developing individualized care plans to address patient needs.
    • Administering psychiatric medications and monitoring for side effects.
    • Providing crisis intervention and utilizing de-escalation techniques.
    • Building trust through effective communication and empathy.
    • Monitoring patients for both physical and psychological symptoms.
  • Certifications Required: BLS and CPI

Dress Code

Black uniforms are required. Nurses wear blue, and Mental Health Technicians (MHTs) wear green or black.
