Job Description:

The Registered Nurse in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides critical or intensive care services to patients aged 0-18 years. Patients may present with various medical and surgical conditions, including acute and chronic respiratory issues, circulatory failure, and trauma. This role involves working through both General Pediatrics and PICU units.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patients’ physical condition from ages 0 to adult.
• Evaluate patient symptoms and associated vital signs.
• Administer medications as prescribed.
• Educate patients and families on the plan of care.
• Titrate drips and care for mechanically ventilated patients.

Requirements:

• 1.5 years of PICU RN experience required.
• BLS, PALS, NIHSS certifications.
• Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.
• Proficient in EPIC charting system.
• Registered Nurse (RN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing.
