Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic clinical team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing high-quality care to critically ill pediatric patients and contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.

Position Details

• Shift: Nights, every other weekend
• Shift Length: 12 hours
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week

Unit Information

• Unit Type: PICU (Pediatric Intensive Care Unit)
• Bed Count: 8 beds with an average census of 2 patients
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:2
• Electronic Medical Records: Cerner
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Holiday Requirement: Worked 2 out of 3 major holidays
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue

Responsibilities

• Administer care and treatment to critically ill pediatric patients
• Monitor patient conditions and report changes as needed
• Perform nursing interventions in accordance with established protocols
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to optimize patient outcomes
• Provide education and support to patients and their families
• Float to general pediatrics and burn units for non-burn care as required

Qualifications

• Required Experience: Minimum of 2 years of PICU experience
• Certifications:
  • BLS Certification
  • PALS Certification

Additional Information

• Telemetry monitoring with Spacelab tele monitors; nurses are responsible for reading their own strips
• Patient care includes those on vents and various titratable drips such as insulin, sedatives, and electrolytes
• Respiratory Therapy and Pharmacy available 24/7
• Floor-specific orientation includes 2 shifts in the PICU, 1 shift in pediatrics, and 1 shift in burn care
• Call may be required if census is low and scheduled
