Clinical Nurse

Job Description

Seeking a dedicated Clinical Nurse to provide comprehensive nursing care to a variety of patients in a fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills and the ability to manage complex patient needs effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize aseptic and sterile techniques for patient care.
  • Perform basic dressing changes and manage ventilator and tracheostomy patients.
  • Conduct suctioning and manage g-tube/j-tube and feeding tube placements.
  • Administer care for chest tubes, epidurals, and patient-controlled analgesia (PCAs).
  • Manage IV drip medications and Foley catheter insertions and care.
  • Provide discharge education and planning for patients and families.
  • Work with continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT) systems, preferably using the Prismax machine.
  • Support patients in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) and other medical/surgical needs as required.

Patient Population

  • Respiratory patients (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP)
  • Patients with tracheostomies, oncology needs, and chronic illnesses
  • Medical cases including MIS-C and new onset diabetes with insulin drips
  • Trauma patients from falls or motor vehicle accidents
  • Cardiovascular patients with congenital heart defects
  • Surgical cases including appendectomies, g-tube placements, and orthopedic injuries

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a clinical nursing setting.
  • Proficiency in aseptic and sterile techniques, dressing changes, and specialized equipment management.
  • Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) are required.
  • CICU and CRRT experience preferred.

Work Environment

This role involves floating between various units including MedSurg, Emergency Department (ED), and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) as a supporting nurse or constant observer.

Schedule

Must be available for every other weekend rotation. Shifts are available during the day (07:00-19:00) and night (19:00-07:00).

Scrub Color

Any scrub color is acceptable; however, long sleeves and hooded shirts are not permitted.

Facility Information

The facility operates as a Level II trauma center and has a Level IV NICU with 16 pediatric intensive care unit beds. It provides interdisciplinary care for a diverse patient population including mixed neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical cases.
