Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

We are seeking a skilled Pediatric Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. The position will require providing comprehensive care to critically ill children in a fast-paced and supportive environment.

Unit Specifics

  • Scrub Color(s): Navy blue or white
  • Number of Beds: 9
  • Patient Ratios:
    • PICU: 1 RN to 1-2 patients
    • Stepdown: 1 RN to 2-3 patients
  • Unit Staffing Description: Unit secretaries and tech availability include a Health Unit Coordinator (HUC) working 9 AM to 9 PM, with a shared tech for the PICU.
  • Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Scheduling Requirements: Must work 3 weekends in a 6-week schedule
  • Floating Policy: Will float to Pediatric and Neonatal Intensive Care Units

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1 year of experience in a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Required certifications include:

  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

Duties & Responsibilities

As a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit RN, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • IV starts and catheter placements
  • Assisting with lumbar punctures
  • Central line dressing changes
  • Hemodynamic monitoring
  • Tracheostomy care
  • Tube feeding and placement
  • Intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring
  • Ventilator management
