Clinical Nurse

Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Clinical Nurse with a strong background in various nursing techniques and patient management. The ideal candidate will possess experience in a critical care setting and demonstrate proficiency in the following areas:

Experience Required

• Minimum of 2 years in a clinical nursing role.

Skills Required

• Aseptic and sterile techniques
• Basic dressing changes
• Ventilator and tracheostomy management
• Suctioning
• G-tube and J-tube management
• Feeding tubes
• Chest tube management
• Epidurals and Patient Controlled Analgesia (PCA)
• Drip management
• Foley catheter insertion and management
• Discharge planning
• Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) experience with Prismax preferred
• Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU) experience preferred

Required Certifications

• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)

Patient Types

• Respiratory patients (high flow, CPAP, BiPAP)
• Patients with tracheostomies
• Chemotherapy patients
• Patients diagnosed with RSV, asthma, and Covid
• Medical cases such as MIS-C and new onset diabetes with insulin drips
• Chronically ill and oncology patients
• Trauma cases from falls and motor vehicle accidents
• Cardiovascular patients with congenital heart defects
• Surgical patients including appendectomies, g-tubes, ENT procedures, bowel obstructions, and more

Floating Requirements

Willingness to float to MedSurg, ED, or NICU as a Helping Hands or Constant Observer when necessary.

Scheduling

Shifts will follow an every other weekend rotation. Shift times are generally 0700-1900 or 1900-0700.

Scrub Color

Any color of scrubs is permitted, with the exception of hooded shirts or long sleeves that cannot be rolled above the elbow.

Work Environment

This position is within a Level II trauma center and a level IV NICU, which includes 16 PICU beds. The unit serves a diverse patient population including neuro, cardiac, respiratory, surgical, and medical cases.

EMR System

Experience with the Epic electronic medical record system is preferred.
