Registered Nurse (RN) – PICU

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) for the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) to provide exceptional patient care in a highly acclaimed healthcare facility located in Asheville, NC.

Position Overview

The RN will be responsible for delivering high-quality healthcare to pediatric patients in critical condition. The ideal candidate will have experience in the PICU and possess the necessary skills to monitor, assess, and implement care plans effectively.

Unit Information

  • Unit Name: PICU
  • Number of Beds: 9
  • Patient Ratios: PICU 1 RN to 1-2 patients; Stepdown 1 RN to 2-3 patients
  • Equipment: Alaris pumps
  • Documentation System: Cerner
  • Type of Staffing: Shared tech with PICU; Health Unit Coordinator available from 9 AM to 9 PM

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill pediatric patients.
  • Conduct assessments, administer medications, and manage IV lines.
  • Perform procedures including IV starts, catheter placements, central line dressing changes, and ventilator management.
  • Deliver education to patients and families regarding care plans and treatment options.
  • Adhere to established protocols and collaborate with the healthcare team to enhance patient outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
  • Certifications: Current PALS certification required.
  • Education: Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.

Additional Information

  • Dress Code: Navy blue or white scrubs (All Navy, All White, or Navy pants with white tops).
  • Scheduling Requirements: Must work 3 weekends within a 6-week scheduling cycle.
  • Floating Policy: May float to Pediatrics and NICU as needed.
  • Work Environment: Encourages self-scheduling to promote work-life balance.
