Pediatric Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Pediatric Registered Nurse to provide quality care in a dynamic healthcare environment. The RN will be responsible for delivering patient-centered care to pediatric and oncology patients, ensuring adherence to best practices and standards in nursing.

Unit Information

  • Unit Type: Pediatric and Oncology
  • Number of Beds: 19 total (13 pediatric and 6 oncology)
  • Staff Composition: 22 total (10 pediatric nurses and 12 oncology nurses)
  • Patient Ratios: 1:3, 1:4, 1:5
  • Type of Equipment: Alaris pumps
  • Electronic Medical Record: Cerner

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide nursing care to pediatric patients.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
  • Monitor patient progress and respond to needs effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
  • Ensure compliance with safety and infection control procedures.
  • Participate in patient and family education initiatives.

Shift Details

  • 12-hour shifts, 7 PM to 7 AM
  • Guaranteed 48 hours per week with overtime after 48 hours
  • Weekend shifts required

Qualifications

  • Required Certifications: PALS, BLS; for oncology, APHON certification is mandatory.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years of pediatric experience in a hospital setting, with a focus on pediatric oncology preferred.
  • Personal Attributes: Detail-oriented, organized, and committed to providing exceptional patient care.

Dress Code

  • Registered Nurses: Navy blue or white scrub tops
  • Nursing Assistants: Galaxy blue scrubs
  • Non-Certified Sitters: Purple scrubs

Tobacco use is prohibited throughout the facility and on campus grounds. Candidates should be prepared to follow all relevant policies and guidelines in their care delivery.
