Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN)

Unit Information

The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) contains 345 beds and has been recognized with a 3-time Magnet designation. Our dedicated float pool consists of approximately 80 staff members.

General Information

• Patient Ratios: 1:5 for both day and night shifts, varying between units.
• Staffing:
  • Day Shift: RNs and CNAs on most units.
  • Night Shift: RNs and CNAs on most units.
• Equipment and Technology: Various types of equipment used; EMR system is Meditech.

Qualifications

• Must Have:
  • Minimum of 1-year current acute care PCU experience.
  • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale.
• Preferred Qualifications:
  • Prior experience with Meditech EMR system.
  • Chemo Certification is a plus, allowing for scheduling in oncology settings.

Typical Procedures and Patient Population

The unit handles a large cardiac population, including two Telemetry floors and a Progressive Care Unit. Nurses may be required to float to various inpatient Med/Tele and Rehabilitation units as needed.
