Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU

Position Overview

This position involves providing high-quality patient care in a progressive care unit (PCU) setting. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical ICU, strong critical thinking skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.

Responsibilities

• Manage and monitor patients in a PCU/ICU overflow unit.
• Conduct bedside shift reports and participate in nurse leader rounding.
• Assist providers with bedside procedures such as chest tube insertion and intubations.
• Maintain competency in advanced hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
• Utilize equipment including ventilators, IV pumps, and specialized patient management systems.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 10 (ICU/PCU Overflow)
• Patient Ratios: 2:1 ICU, 4-5:1 PCU
• No unit secretaries or Patient Care Technicians (PCTs) available.

Shift Details

This role requires 12-hour shifts with an expectation of every other weekend and holiday support. Travelers may be required to float between units as necessary.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical ICU setting at a large facility.
• Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring and ventilator management.
• Strong critical thinking abilities and flexibility in adapting to dynamic environments.

Certifications

• Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

Dress Code

Required uniform is navy blue or white scrubs.
