Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Cardiovascular Progressive Care Unit (CVPC). The ideal candidate will provide high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment, focusing on cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery patients.

Unit Information

The CVPC unit consists of:

• Patient Population: Primarily cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery, including open heart surgeries, thoracic lung surgeries, and overflow medical cardiology patients.
• Number of Beds: 40 cardiac surgery stepdown beds.
• Staff Composition: Approximately 100 team members, including RNs and Patient Care Technicians (PCTs).
• Patient Ratios: 1:5 for RNs, 1:13 for PCTs.
• Type of Equipment: Baxter IV pumps, CADD epidural pumps, and various lifts.
• Electronic Medical Record (EMR): Cerner.

Qualifications

Required Skills:

• Stepdown experience.
• Telemetry experience.

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with cardiovascular surgery and vascular surgery populations within the last year.
• Experience in CVICU.

Certifications:

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support).
• BLS (Basic Life Support).

Typical Responsibilities

• Management of epidurals and chest tubes.
• Tube feedings and IV glucomanagement.
• Cardiac medication management, including monitoring and administering specific cardiac gtts.

Schedule and Availability

Work requirements include a minimum of 6 weekend shifts every 6 weeks. Flexibility to work during holidays is also required.
