Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic Progressive Care Unit (PCU). This role involves working in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients with complex medical needs.

Unit Information

• Number of Beds: 34 in PCU 630 / 25 in PCU 633
• Patient Ratios: 1:4 to 1:5 during the day, 1:5 to 1:6 at night
• Staffing: 3 technicians for PCU 630 and 2 technicians for PCU 633 when full
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: Every other weekend; 3 twelve-hour shifts per week
• Floating Policy: May require floating between PCU units or to medical-surgical floors
• Patient Experience Requirements: Hourly rounding on days and every two hours on nights; adherence to AIDET and communication boards

Qualifications

• Required Skills:
  • Critical thinking skills
  • EKG rhythm interpretation
  • Experience with cardiac, insulin, and heparin drips
  • Peritoneal dialysis experience preferred
  • Peripheral IV skills
• Advanced Skills:
  • ACLS certification
  • Experience with biphasic positive airway pressure (BiPAP), high-flow oxygen, and various oxygen delivery systems
  • Experience caring for stroke patients and post-cardiac catheterization patients
  • Familiarity with tube feedings and NG/dobhoff tubes

Procedures Performed

• Peritoneal dialysis
• Thoracentesis and paracentesis
• Chest tube insertions
• Dobhoff and NG tube insertions
• Central line dressing changes
• Troubleshooting wound vacs

Certifications Required

• BLS
• ACLS

Dress Code

Black scrubs required.
