Registered Nurse (RN) – PCU

Position Description

This position is for a Registered Nurse in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU). Patient ratios are an estimation based on the unit and are not guaranteed.

Unit Profile

Location: Augusta, GA

• Number of Beds: 29
• Patient Ratios: Ideally 1:4, currently running 1:5
• Unit Staffing Description: Unit Coordinators and Patient Care Technicians available
• Type of Equipment: Alaris IV pumps, Welch Allyn Vital Sign machines, bladder scan, vein finder
• Documentation System: Meditech
• Scheduling Requirements: 36 hours per week
• Floating Policy: All staff float to areas of their competencies
• Patient Experience Requirements: Must provide safe, high-quality, and compassionate care

Hiring Profile

Requested Skill Set

• Must have Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Familiarity with cardiac drips and insulin drips
• Required certification: ACLS

Dress Code

• Royal Blue Scrubs
• No artificial or gel nails

Unit Guidelines and Policies

• Vital Signs assessment every 4 hours (may be more frequent based on patient condition)
• Blood glucose checks as ordered
• Required documentation and assessment every shift

Team Environment

The team in the PCU is cohesive and works well together. The ideal candidate should be a team player. Staff have the option to self-schedule and accommodate others, particularly those who prefer night shifts.
