PACU Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced PACU Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dedicated team. This position offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, providing care to patients recovering from various surgical procedures.

Schedule

Our unit operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The schedule requires working Monday through Friday within the hours of 10:00 AM to 10:30 PM. Additionally, candidates must be available for holiday shifts, including two major holidays (Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, New Year’s Day) and one minor holiday (the Friday after Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, New Year’s Eve).

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality post-anesthesia care to patients in the PACU.
• Monitor patient vitals and manage pain control effectively.
• Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
• Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care.
• Educate patients and families about postoperative care and recovery processes.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years of recent experience in a PACU or comparable specialty.
• Current AHA ACLS and BLS certification.
• NIHSS Certification required.
• Experience with Cerner EMR is preferred.

Patient Population

The PACU handles higher acuity cases including, but not limited to, thoracic, orthopedic, neurology, vascular, urology, and general surgery cases.

Unit Information

The unit is directed by a Charge Nurse and a Supervisor, ensuring optimal patient care and support for nursing staff.
