Staff Registered Nurse (RN)

Job Summary

The registered nurse assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and supervises individual patient care using the nursing process. The nurse accepts responsibility for directing co-workers and delegating appropriate tasks in the care implementation process. All responsibilities are performed in accordance with established policies, procedures, and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Education: Completion of an accredited nursing program, resulting in one of the following:
    • Diploma in Nursing
    • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Licensure/Certification: Valid license to practice in the State of Ohio; CPR certification required.
  • Experience: Previous Registered Nursing experience preferred.
  • Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills; problem-solving abilities; capability to manage multiple priorities; independent decision-making; critical thinking skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for each patient in accordance with the nursing process.
  • Provide quality care based on assessment needs and established care pathways.
  • Educate patients and families throughout the admission to discharge process.
  • Document nursing processes accurately and legibly.
  • Notify physicians of significant observations and changes in patient status.
  • Administer medications and perform treatments safely and accurately.
  • Implement physician orders as written.
  • Ensure the availability of equipment and supplies for patient care, reporting any malfunctions to the appropriate department.

Physical and Mental Demands

Physical: The position requires heavy work, which may include exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25 to 50 pounds frequently. Frequent patient handling activity is necessary.

Mental: This role requires self-regulation of emotions and the ability to manage urgent situations calmly. Strong empathetic communication with patients is essential, along with confidence in assertive interpersonal situations.

This position requires a shift from 9 AM to 5:30 PM.
