Post Anesthesia Care Unit Registered Nurse (RN)

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse to join our Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU). This is a seasonal travel position available for day shifts. The PACU is a fast-paced environment where staff members work collaboratively to provide exceptional patient care.

Unit Information

The PACU unit consists of various specialized areas, including:

• Main PACU: 27 bays
• Surgical Robotics: 12 bays (rescheduled to open February)
• Orthopedic Surgery Center: 20 bays

A total of 59 bays are available for both Pre-Op and PACU combined. The unit employs approximately 70 staff members, including Registered Nurses and Patient Care Technicians. The staff collaborates closely to ensure patient comfort and safety.

Patient Care and Staffing

Staff-to-patient ratios are maintained according to ASPAN standards, ensuring quality care:

• Day Shift: Varies based on surgery schedules
• Night Shift: 2 Registered Nurses
• Patient Ratios: Typically 1 RN to 2 patients; up to 3 for same-day surgery patients

Required Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following skills and certifications:

• Critical Care experience and/or PACU experience
• PALS, ACLS, BLS, and NIHSS certifications

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in stroke care or related fields is advantageous but not required.

The PACU accommodates a diverse range of surgical cases, including:

• Spine surgeries
• General and GI surgeries
• Colorectal procedures
• Total joint surgeries
• Gynecological surgeries
• Robotic surgeries
• High volume neuro and stroke patient recovery
• Interventional radiology procedures
• TAVR (Transcatheter Aortic Valve Replacement)
