Registered Nurse – Operating Room (RN)

Position Overview

The Registered Nurse – Operating Room is responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a surgical setting. This role includes assessing patient needs, implementing appropriate nursing interventions, and collaborating with the surgical team to ensure optimal outcomes.

Shift Information

• Schedule: 12-hour night shifts (7 PM – 7 AM)
• Weekend and holiday work required
• On-call duties with a response time of 30 minutes

Qualifications

• Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing
• Current Registered Nurse license in New York State
• BLS certification required; ACLS certification preferred
• Preceptorship, charge, and leadership experience preferred for experienced RNs

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to patients in the operating room
• Assess patients’ clinical, educational, mental, and spiritual needs
• Identify and address safety issues for self and patients
• Utilize lifts and other equipment safely to assist with patient mobility
• Demonstrate strong problem-solving skills in high-stress situations
• Exhibit leadership abilities, including prioritization and delegation of responsibilities
• May assume charge nurse responsibilities when necessary
• Communicate effectively with patients and the healthcare team
• Maintain knowledge of clinical equipment and instrumentation relevant to the operating room
• Demonstrate skills in lethal dysrhythmia interpretation
