Registered Nurse (RN)

General Information

Join our outpatient clinic, where we are seeking dedicated Registered Nurses to support our Medical Oncology/Hematology department. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 1.5 years of nursing experience, with at least one year in Oncology.

Rapid City, SD

Patient Types

• Adults 18 years and older
• Medical Oncology/Hematology
• Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – both pre-transplant and post-transplant

Work Environment

Average patient visits per day: Approximately 15-25 patients with cancer support.

Required Certifications

• Registered Nurse (RN) – South Dakota Board of Nursing
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Required Education

Completion of a nursing education program approved by a board of nursing.

Skills Required

• Experience with EPIC Ambulatory
• Clinic experience is a must
• Chaperoning providers during exams and procedures
• Rooming patients and taking vital signs
• Reviewing systems and conducting medication reconciliation
• Obtaining orders and processing patients for infusions
• Performing chart checks
• Setting up procedures and reviewing referrals

Support on the Unit

You will work alongside:

• Department Leadership
• Cancer Care (CA) Team
• Charge Nurse
• Team Lead as a resource
• On-site Laboratory staff
• Chemotherapy nurses for port access and blood draws
• A team of 7 Medical Oncologists, each supported by an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP)

Charting System/Equipment

Familiarity with Epic Ambulatory is required. You may occasionally work with different physicians within the Medical Oncology department.

Orientation and Scheduling

Department orientation typically lasts 5 days, tailored to your skillset and comfort level. Scheduling includes:

• No weekends
• No major holidays; minor holidays will be scheduled as needed
• Time off may be approved for up to 7 days (excluding holidays), conditional on contract extension
• 4 shifts of 10 hours with a typical start time of 7:00 AM and ending at 5:30 PM
