Registered Nurse (RN) – Oncology/Hematology

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled Registered Nurse specializing in Oncology and Hematology to join our dedicated healthcare team. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality patient care in a collaborative environment, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of hematological and oncology conditions.

Unit Information

This position is located in a 21-bed unit dedicated to the care and treatment of patients with hematological and oncology diagnoses, as well as providing palliative and inpatient hospice care. Key responsibilities include administering chemotherapy, symptom management, and supportive care for progressive diagnoses.

Contract Details

  • Length of Contract: 26 weeks preferred; longer contracts (26-51 weeks) receive priority.
  • Shifts: 12-hour shifts with a guarantee of 36 hours per week.
  • Weekend Rotation: Required every other weekend.
  • Holiday Rotation: One holiday off may be requested, along with specified federal holidays.

Compliance Requirements

All candidates must meet compliance requirements, including proof of vaccinations or immunity for Hepatitis B, MMR, and Varicella. TDaP and Influenza vaccinations are also required, along with TB documentation.

Qualifications

  • Education: ADN or BSN required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of acute care nursing experience is required, with oncology/hematology experience preferred.
  • Certifications:
    • AHA BLS certification required at time of submission.
    • Chemotherapy Certification preferred.
  • Licensure: Valid KS license or Multistate license required. No hits allowed.

Additional Information

  • Charting System: Experience with Epic preferred; testing options available.
  • Staffing Ratios: 1:6, with a ratio of 1:4 when active chemotherapy is being infused.
  • Appearance Policy: Visible tattoos are permitted, provided they are not offensive or inappropriate. Piercings must maintain a professional appearance.
