Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse

Job Description

We are currently seeking a skilled and compassionate Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Nurse to join our team. This position is ideal for individuals with experience caring for critically ill newborns and who are dedicated to providing high-quality patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing care to infants in the NICU, including those requiring respiratory support and various medical interventions.
  • Manage and monitor respiratory support for ventilators and non-invasive settings (NCPAP).
  • Administer medications, maintain care plans, and participate in discharge planning to home.
  • Assist with the management of g-tubes, NG/OG tubes, UAC/UVC lines, PICC lines, and tracheostomies as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and support families during their care journey.
  • Float to MedSurg or PICU for patients aged 1 and under, or assist as needed in other areas of the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Level III-IV NICU setting.
  • Current BLS and NRP certifications required.
  • Active nursing license in the state of Washington.
  • Experience with high-risk deliveries, prematurity down to 22 weeks gestation, and conditions such as RDS and NAS is preferred.
  • Experience with surgical patients and hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) is a plus.

Additional Information

This position includes a weekend rotation every other week and may require occasional back-to-back weekends. Shift times are either 0700-1930 or 1900-0730. Scrub color is flexible. Block scheduling is possible, though not guaranteed. The NICU features private rooms and has a capacity of 70 beds with a typical census around 50 patients.
